Franklin Canyon Engagement - Los Angeles, CA - Mia + Jeremy
There are several canyons hidden throughout the Hollywood Hills, but Mia + Jeremy had their heart set on Franklin Canyon Park - a spot they visit all the time for hikes, picnics, and solitude so it made sense to shoot their engagement photos at Franklin Canyon too! First, we met up at the Waldorf-Astoria in Beverly Hills for rooftop drinks. We sipped fancy beverages, ate some of the best guacamole I’ve had in my ENTIRE life, and talked about wedding planning and our mutual love of all things food. Afterwards we headed over to the park they love so much to make magic! Franklin Canyon Park’s 605 acres are situated between Beverly Hills and the San Fernando Valley. The park is and is home to trails, a reservoir, a duck pond, seasonal streams, and large grassy lawns. It’s so deeply tucked into the canyon you’ll feel like you aren’t even in LA anymore! Mia and Jeremy showed me a few of their favorite spots and we decided to try to shoot in as many of them as we could! The result: a gallery jam-packed with vignettes allllll over Franklin Canyon. Here are a few of my favorites from this Franklin Canyon engagement shoot!
During the shoot, Mia, Jeremy, and I barely stopped laughing. It was nearly two hours of nonstop goofing off! Their personalities really came through, and together we captured moments that were joyful, tender, romantic, funny, and so uniquely them.
From our very first phone call, the three of us bonded over food. I had somehow gotten on the topic of working in the restaurant industry, and shared the story of working at The General Muir for a few years back in Atlanta. If you don’t know, TGM is basically the best Jewish Deli in the southeast and honestly, I haven’t had a bagel that really hits the spot like it since moving to LA! I didn’t know at the time, but Mia and Jeremy are also bagel addicts. So naturally, when the engagement shoot came around, we HAD to incorporate food. We ended with a picnic on the grassy lawn by shucking oysters and eating delicious smoked salmon with roe. If there way any doubt before the engagement shoot that these were my people (there wasn’t), it was long gone by the time we were splitting oysters. To top it off, they even brought me a half dozen of bagels and whitefish salad from their favorite bagel spot! It was so thoughtful and absolutely blew me away.
It was such a special afternoon shooting with Mia and Jeremy, and I am incredibly thrilled to be shooting their wedding in May 2020! Getting to know them through this engagement session was the perfect way to get ready for their upcoming day.
